Bocce

You need big balls to play bocce. 4 of them. And one small one.
Bocce is simple and can be played by people of all ages, making it one of the most widely played games in the world.
The game is played with one pallino ball and eight bocce balls, four for each team. A typical game begins with a coin toss, and the winner gets to toss, or pitch, the smaller pallino ball, which becomes the target. Next, the player or team that pitches the pallino gets the first shot, trying to get a ball as close to the pallino as possible. Next, the opponent tries to get their ball closer to the pallino. Points are won by determining whose balls are nearest the pallino. That’s where the measuring comes in.

Scoring occurs at the end of each round and only the team with their ball closest to the pallino earns points; one point for each ball that is closer to the pallino than the closest ball of the opposing team, two points if a ball touches the pallino. If both teams’ balls are the same distance from the pallino, no points are won. The game continues until one team reaches a set point total.

By the way, the game is bocce, never “bocce ball.”
