Arcade Games

You got next.

Back in the day, the video game arcade was an incredible place. You walked up to your favorite game, plunked down a quarter on the machine, and said, “I got next.”

If you were king of the arcade, be so again. If you just love all kinds of arcade games from Pac-Man to Mortal Kombat, Foundry Social is the place to get your game on. We’ve got your favorites of today, and the best games from the golden age of arcade games.

Level Up.

The golden age of arcade video games was the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. It began with Space Invaders in 1978 and Asteroids in 1979 and took off like a rocket (or a Missile Command missile).

How big were arcade games? In 1982, the arcade video game industry’s revenue was $8 billion. Those 32 billion quarters was more than the annual gross revenue of pop music and Hollywood movies combined! It was also more than the combined revenues of Major League Baseball, the NBA and the NFL, and double what all the casinos in Nevada earned.

Arcade games were everywhere. In shopping malls, gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores, bars, movie theaters, and amusement parks.
